Cellar Block wines are made in only the 'best years'. There is no doubt that 2018 sits squarely in that category. This is a real treat, showing the elegant, spice-driven side of durif to fine effect even at noticeably higher alcohols thanks to some noteworthy, well-placed tannin interplay. The colour is deep, dark purple red. The scent celebrates joyful, summery black berried fruits and plum with striking spice. Fine-tannined throughout, the palate is lifted in aromatic spices, fruit, gentle French oak and a youthful vibrancy. So much life and energy as a five-year-old, just imagine how long this beauty can go in the cellar?
